Thogoto

Thogoto sits just off Kikuyu Road, close enough to Nairobi to commute but far enough that it still feels like its own place. Tuesday evenings are quiet — chapati joints closing up, kids walking home from tuition, matatus thinning out. Saturday mornings are busier: the small shopping centres along the main road fill up, people doing errands, a lot of foot traffic near the hospital. Most of the housing stock is mid-rise apartments, 2-bedrooms being the most common, and rents are genuinely affordable compared to anything inside the Nairobi boundary. The tradeoff is distance. Getting to CBD takes a while, especially if you miss the early matatu window. Traffic on Kikuyu Road can grind badly in the evening. There's no big mall here — you're going to Kikuyu town or further for that. But for someone who wants a calm, residential base, good schools nearby, and doesn't need to be in town every day, Thogoto makes a lot of sense.
