Tilisi

Tilisi is one of those places that makes sense on paper and takes some getting used to in practice. It's a master-planned development off the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, about 30km from the CBD, and it genuinely feels different from the rest of Nairobi — in good and bad ways. Tuesday evening is quiet. Like, really quiet. No matatu stage noise, no kiosk radios, no hawkers. Saturday morning you might see families jogging, kids on playgrounds, people washing cars. It's that kind of place. The estates here are well-managed — gyms, pools, CCTV, reserved parking, the works. But you will need a car, full stop. Running to the shop for uji at 9pm is not the experience here. If you work from home or your office is westbound toward Limuru or beyond, it clicks. If you're commuting to Westlands or town daily, you'll start feeling the distance fast.
