Zimmerman

Zimmerman is a dense, no-nonsense residential area sitting just off Thika Road near Githurai. On a Tuesday evening it's all bodas weaving through traffic, mama mbogas packing up their stalls, and people streaming off matatus after work. Saturday morning feels different — slower, kids playing in the compounds, the smell of mandazi from the corner kiosk. It's a working-class neighborhood that functions. Rents are genuinely affordable, 1-bedrooms around 15k, 2-bedrooms around 22-23k, and you get manned security and CCTV in most buildings. The tradeoffs are real though: roads inside the estate get rough, especially after rain. Getting to CBD takes 40-60 minutes depending on Thika Road traffic. Nightlife is minimal — a few local joints but that's it. If you want quiet evenings, affordable rent, and don't mind the commute grind, Zimmerman works. If you need to be near town fast, you'll feel the distance every single day.
